The Place

Our 270 acres on the shores of Lake Vernon in beautiful Muskoka, include a sandy beach, forests, fields, mountain, creeks, ponds, and many kilometers of hiking trails...and our campers are encouraged to explore every inch!

  • The Cabins

Cabins are the campers’ home at Camp. Cabins have bathrooms with toilets, showers, and sinks with hot water, bunk beds, shelves for clothing and belongings, and windows for cross-ventilation. Counsellors live in the cabins with their campers for night time supervision and to create a family-like feeling.

  • Pop Pearse Lodge

Truly the hub of Camp! The Pop Pearse Lodge houses our Dining Hall and Camp Kitchen, the Program Office, the Library, the Costume Room, and large indoor programming spaces (Red Room and Blue Room).

  • Dining Hall

Mealtime is when the entire Camp comes together. Campers and their Counsellors sit at the same tables for every meal to create a ‘family-like’ feeling. Meals are served family style and prepared by qualified, talented, and passionate staff. Announcements, Sing Songs, and special presentations all take place around mealtimes in the Dining Hall.

  • The Health Centre

Our nurses live and work in our Health Centre, which is fully stocked with First Aid supplies and over the counter medications, and where Camper medications are safely stored. There are bedrooms for campers and staff who need to rest, recover, or who require care. Our Camp Physicians visit daily. Huntsville Hospital is a 15 minute drive away.

  • The Sportsfield

Basketball, Tennis, Baseball, Mini-putt, Archery, Pingpong, Volleyball, Gaga Ball, 9-Square, Soccer, Badminton, Frisbee...and so much more! Campers can choose their own activities or participate in scheduled sports tournaments and programs.

  • The Library

Our Books, Cards, and Board Games headquarters at Camp - located on the main floor of the Pop Pearse Lodge. Campers can read or sign out books, play games with friends, or compete in scheduled tournaments - sometimes with their cabinmates! Chess, Checkers, Risk, Pictionary, Crokinole, Giant Jenga, Monopoly, Life, Sorry...and so much more!

  • The Music Room

Come to the Music Room to sing, dance, play the piano, learn the guitar or ukulele, play drama games, or rehearse for the Camp Musical. Camp Tawingo puts on a Musical in each of its three regular sessions (1st, 2nd, and 3rd).

  • Loon Lodge (Woodcraft)

Under guidance and supervision from trained staff, campers learn to safely use hammers, nails, saws, clamps, wood burning pencils, and glue to build whatever their imaginations inspire!

  • Jorgi Junction (Arts & Crafts)

Under guidance and supervision from trained staff, campers can make all kinds of crafts. They can make the “Craft of the Day” or follow their own imaginations. There is no limit to craft creativity at Camp!

  • The Waterfront

The Tawingo Waterfront occupies a quiet bay on Lake Vernon. A beautiful beach and gradual entry allow us to divide our swimming areas by depth, and make it easy to take canoes and sailboats in and out of the water. Two diving boards and the Big Red Slide make it a favourite area of campers and staff alike.

  • SWAMP Lodge

Campers come to SWAMP Lodge to learn all things Nature related - in particular Stars. Weather, Animals, Minerals, and Plants. Home to our Organic Garden, farm animal pen, and daily treasure hunt (The D’Juno).

  • Crestwood

Campers come to Crestwood to learn the skills needed to live safely and comfortably in the outdoors: Tents and Shelters, Knots, Fires, Map & Compass, and Woodsy Wisdom.

  • "Thank you to the entire Tawingo family for making my son’s time at camp so amazing! He can’t stop talking about Camp Tawingo. According to him it’s the best sleep away camp ever! Thank you for allowing him to make lifetime memories and amazing friendships."

  • "For many weeks after camp, our son continuously lamented that he wished he was still at Camp Tawingo! His confidence in swimming sky-rocketed during his time there. He surprised himself at how easily he could make new friends. He loved the freedom of having a whole camp, full of activities, to wander around and explore. He loved being outside and active from morning until night! His counsellor was engaging and caring, and we were reminded of this when we recently received a letter from him."

  • "Camp lit a fire of enthusiasm and inspiration in our son. The counsellors and staff clearly made a very positive impression on him. He took delight in all of the camp traditions - the songs (which we continue to hear him humming daily), the big events, new games, and skills that he learned. He felt proud of experiencing his first out-trip that wasn't a family trip. His counsellor did a great job helping him feel welcome and like a valuable member of the cabin."
