INTRODUCTORY SESSIONS

(1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B)

For its first 45 years, Camp Tawingo had sessions that were 2 – 3 weeks in length. Eventually we chose to create shorter sessions for first-time campers to “try” the overnight Camp experience. We call these our A and B Sessions; they are also referred to as Introductory Sessions.

Here are some important notes for you to consider as you look to make the best choice for your camper:

• A and B Sessions are designed to be introductory sessions for new campers. So, new campers may come to a specific A or B session only once. Campers returning for a second summer are required to choose a longer session, which could include a longer Introductory Session or any Regular session. Campers returning for a third summer must choose a Regular session - 1st, 2nd, or 3rd.

• Our A and B Sessions are part of our Regular sessions. A Sessions begin on the first day of each Regular Session and end before the length of a full session. B Sessions begin the day after A Session Departure and continue to the end of the Regular Session. For example, Session 3A and 3rd Session begin simultaneously, Session 3B and 3rd Session end simultaneously.

• “A” and “B” campers are integrated into the cabin groups of our Regular Session campers. For example, 3A campers are integrated into 3rd Session cabins with 3rd Session campers. When 3A campers leave, 3B campers arrive the following day to fill their spots in the cabins. We try to limit the number of A and B campers to 2 – 3 per cabin.

• Because our A and B Sessions are part of our Regular sessions, campers who come to one of our A or B Sessions may not get to participate in every aspect of the Camp Tawingo experience. For instance, they may not go on an outtrip; they may not get an All Camp or Special Program, etc., simply because these programs may be scheduled on the days when they are not at Camp.

• Of course, A and B campers will experience every other part of Tawingo (Interest Groups, Afternoon and Evening Programs, Free Time, etc.), as well as the same quality of leadership as our Regular Session campers.

• Chartered Bus Transportation is available from Toronto and Ottawa (for an additional cost) to A Session campers travelling to Camp; and for B Session campers travelling from Camp.

In summary, our “A” and “B” Sessions are designed to give campers a “taste” of Tawingo…but not the entire Tawingo experience.
